The original home was built on a 6-acre plot in 1920 and was the 2nd house on street then known as Mahood Drive. In 1961, George and Carolyn Lansdale moved from Philadelphia, PA to Huntington, WV and purchased the home from its original owner. The couple settled in and made this their "forever" home for their young family that over the years grew to five children.

In the late 60's, the rest of the street slowly developed into the lovely neighborhood you see today and that's when the street name changed to Larchmont Drive. We never got around to changing the address from Mahood to Larchmont and to be honest, we kind of like being one of the original homes on Mahood, even if it does confuse the mailman!

The Lansdale children describe the house as the most idyllic childhood home.  As the neighborhood developed and grew, young families moved in and The Lansdale House became the neighborhood hub where there were always flag football games in the front yard, relentless basketball match-ups happening in the side yard – always a steady stream of neighborhood kids wanting to play, friends stopping by to chat about gardening, neighbors popping over for ice tea and conversation, and every family gathering and holiday celebration happened here, beginning with the Easter Bunny and ending with Old Saint Nick himself. The home itself is and has always been like a warm, welcome from an old friend. Carolyn and George made sure of that and their legacy has carried on.

In 2017, the five Lansdale children inherited the family home. Unable to part with it, collectively and after much consideration, they decided to turn their family home into a B&B as a way to keep the home as part of the family and to continue in the tradition of hospitality that had played such a big role in their upbringing.

After a full year of planning and renovations, the Lansdale House is now available for you to come and enjoy as our guest. We can only hope that you enjoy your stay and feel the welcome and comfort that this home has provided to all of our many visitors and guests over the past five decades.

We look forward to your visit,

Mary, Hank & The Lansdale Family
